On this day, October 23, 1934, Gerrit Albertus Beneker died in Turo, Massachusetts. Beneker studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and in New York at the Art Students League. As an illustrator he was best known for his images of American industrial scenes and for his posters made to support the American effort in World War I.
