On this day, November 16, 1934, Alfredo Lutz Demorest died in Trinidad. Demorest was born in Santiago, Chile of American parents. After training and serving in the Diplomatic Service, he decided to study art, first at the School of the Boston Museum of the Fine Arts and then at the Art Students League of New York, then he went to Wilmington, Delaware to study with Howard Pyle. He served in the first world war and then went back to diplomatic service. He died while serving in Trinidad.
