On this day, June 11, 1913, illustrator Maxwell Coburn Whitmore, Jr., otherwise known as Coby Whitmore, born in Dayton, Ohio. He attended the Dayton Art Institute and apprenticed at the Sundblom studio in Chicago. He moved to New York City in 1943 and joined the Charles E. Cooper Studio, specializing in illustrations of pretty women and the American good life.
