On this day, January 30, 1937, science fiction illustrator George Barr was born. After studying art through the Famous Artists School course and at the Vocational School of Commercial Art in Salt Lake City, Utah, Barr discovered science fiction and began contributing to fanzines. His artistry has won him a Hugo for best fan artist and his illustrations have graced covers of DAW. Ace, and Ballentine books.
