Did you know that the Newark Public Library, Special Collections Division in Newark, NJ keeps The Illustrators Information Files?

These files contain various items on many 19th and 20th century illustrators, compiled over the last 50 years (and still maintained) by the Special Collections staff. According to their web site description, “The files contain news clippings, articles from various art magazines and journals, brochures, and flyers from artists’ exhibitions and events, reproduced images, exhibit labels from Newark Public Library exhibits involving the illustrator, and pamphlets published about the artist. Please note that some of the references below to the New York Times (NYT) and Star-Ledger (SL) newspapers do not have hard copies in the files, but act as an index to those two sources.”

Online at the Library’s web site is an alphabetical listing of the American illustrators in the Special Collections listing along with their birth and death dates. See, https://www.npl.org/Pages/Collections/illustrators.html
