On this day, May 22, 1907, the Belgian comic-book creator Hergé was born in Etterbeek, Brussels. As a boy Hergé was interested in scouting and produced illustrations of Scouting and Catholic magazines. While working for a newspaper he began serializing the first of his stories featuring the boy reporter, Tintin.
