<p>On November 23rd in 1876, corrupt Tammany Hall leader William Magear Tweed (known as Boss Tweed) was delivered to authorities in New York City after having been captured in Spain. Tweed was in Spain after having escaped from a New York jail. Ironically it was this political cartoon by Nast from earlier that year that was used by Spanishauthorities to identify Tweed.</p>
